The selected online courses at Dayton University that match the Basic Theology for Ministry (BTM) course provide lay ecclesial ministers with the essential teaching of the Catholic Church, as well as, introduce them to the sacramental and spiritual life of the church. These online courses give a basic theological foundation for ministry. This is a one-year course consisting of 7 cycles.
This course is a component of all diocesan certifications for specific ministries. It is the theological requirement for the California Catholic Conference for the Certification of Catechists. It is also a pre-requisite for those interested in the Advanced Theology for Ministry (ATM) course and/or those discerning the diaconate.
Participants must pre-register with the Diocese before registering at Dayton University. Below is the schedule of when each cycle will be given along with when registration will open and close for those cycles. Please contact our office for more information.
